Pochettino led a youthful Blues side to the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool FC and FA Cup semi-finals against Manchester City at Wembley, and despite a season largely of struggles and injuries, ended the Premier League campaign with five successive wins to secure European football with a sixth-place finish in the league.
Pochettino is believed to have left the club on good terms. There is not thought to have been any falling out between Chelsea’s co-owners or co-sporting directors.
However, top brass at Stamford Bridge are thought to felt Pochettino should have forced a higher League finish than the sixth spot he ultimately captured.
“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.” Said Chelsea’s former boss Pochettino.
A number of players from the club seemed to be sad following Pochettino’s departure.
Chelsea announced that the club is focused on getting modern and dynamic manager who can play offensive football, possession, improve the team defensively and trust young talents.
