The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has revealed that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to promote 45,000 teachers in November.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the professional development of educators and improve the overall quality of education in Kenyan schools.
KUPPET has voiced strong support for this move, highlighting its significance in recognizing teachers’ contributions and boosting morale within the profession
Interviews are set to begin in mid-November 2024.
KUPPET Secretary-Gen Akello Misori urged leaders of the branch to identify approximately 1,000 senior teachers who have eyed the opportunities for over a decade.
“I asked branch leaders to identify these teachers who have suffered in silence for years so they can get justice from the employer,” said Mr Misori.
“The Union will soon give its input to the guidelines, which will reduce the number of promotional grades and ensure quick growth for teachers. The new guidelines will be lauched in December for their application starting January 2025,” said Misori
KUPPET believes that timely promotions will not only enhance job satisfaction but also encourage teachers to further invest in their professional growth. By addressing issues related to career advancement, the TSC aims to create a more supportive and effective teaching environment. As November approaches, many educators are hopeful that this initiative will lead to a more equitable recognition of their hard work, ultimately benefiting the education sector in Kenya as a whole.
