Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has today announced that public school teachers across the country will receive their July and August salary increments by Friday, August 30, 2024. CS Ogamba said the increments will be made in accordance with the implementation of the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), after the release of Ksh.13.5 billion by the National Treasury last week.
“As proof the Government’s good faith and commitment to address teachers’ concerns, the Teachers Service Commission has worked round the clock to ensure that all public school teachers are paid their July and August salary raises by Friday this week,” said Ogomba
“To restore full industrial harmony in the education sector, the Government is engaged in talks with the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET). We are confident that these talks will result in KUPPET members returning to work, given that the Government has fully implemented the second phase of the CBA and that the other administrative issues are being addressed by the Teachers Service Commission.”
The government on Sunday released Ksh.21.8 Billion to all public schools ahead of the school reopening set for Monday, August 26, 2024. This came after a looming nationwide teachers’ strike.
In a breakdown, the free primary education received Ksh.1.6 billion, free day Junior School education (Ksh.6.1 billion) and free day secondary education (Ksh.14.1 billion).
