A dormitory fire broke out at Njia Boys Secondary School in Igembe, Meru County, causing significant destruction. The blaze, which occurred in the early morning hours, razed the dormitory to the ground, destroying property worth millions of shillings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as students and staff were safely evacuated.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial suspicions include an electrical fault. The rapid spread of the fire was likely exacerbated by flammable materials and the lack of adequate fire suppression systems, such as sprinklers or fire extinguishers.
