MP Peter Salasya Announces to Vie for Kakamega Governor’s Seat 2027

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Kalerwa Salasya has been the talk of the country after eruption of the assault during a funeral service in Kakamega County. On his X Page formerly known as twitter the legislator declared that  he will vie for the Kakamega county gubernatorial seat in the next general election.

“It’s now official I will be vying for Governor,” the MP said.

Peter Salasya won the parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election under Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) and he is currently on his first term as Mumias East MP.

This happens after few days the MP was summoned by EACC over assault allegations.

“You are required to appear at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s offices at Integrity Centre, Nairobi, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 9 am for an interview and statement recording,” a letter addressed to Salasya by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak reads in part.

The MP recently faulted and blamed Kakamega senator Khalalwe and Governor Fernandes Barasa for allegedly fighting him for political gain.

” The reason people like Boni Khalwale and Fernandes Barasa are fighting me is because they don’t have a following… if today I call a meeting of 20,000 people they will come. Them they can’t (sic),” Salasya stated.
