Kibabii University is currently facing unrest among its students following allegations of fund misuse by the student secretary general. This situation has sparked significant frustration and anger, as students feel their trust has been betrayed.
Mismanagement of funds by student leaders can severely impact the entire student body, leading to calls for accountability and transparency.
On Tuesday afternoon, SOKU Sec General Edwin Sang released a statement stating that he was not going to be impeached but given more time to do the work that comrades had given him to do.
” Following the internal memo released yesterday for the impeachment of Secretary General, it has come to our attention that Edwin Sang, SOKU Sec General is proven to be innocent over the matter of 120,000 shillings. Therefore we withdraw this statement and we apologise for the inconvenience if caused”, read part of the memo.
Kibabii University students had organized protests to demand answers on how the money was spent and ensure that such incidents do not recur. It’s crucial for student leadership to uphold integrity and foster a collaborative environment. The misuse of funds not only affects financial resources but also undermines the credibility of the student government as a whole.
