Kenyan content creators are set to start earning from their content after social media giant, Facebook, through its parent company Meta announced the rolling out of instreams ads.
“We are very happy to announce that we’re gonna have instream ads available on Facebook starting early summer maximum,” said Moon Baz who heads global partnerships for Africa, Middle East and Turkey.
“What instream ads mean is they are image and video ads that will be served, before, during or after any of your videos and it is a way for you guys to monetise and generate revenue through Facebook.” he said this three months ago.
Kenya is now one of the 12 African countries where Meta shares revenues earned from advertisements with creators. Others are Egypt, Nigeria, Rwanda, Ghana, and Seychelles, among others.
“This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry in Kenya to earn money, whilst setting the bar high for creativity across the world and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop-shop for all creators,” said Moon Baz, Meta’s global partnerships leader for Africa, Middle East and Turkey.
For you to be eligible to earn, you will need to have at least 5,000 followers on Facebook and have more than 60,000 minutes of total watch time over the last two months.
Other African countries that have benefited from Meta shares is Ghana, Nigeria, Sychelles, Egypt, Rwanda among others
