Kabianga University Hostel 6 And 7 Razed Down By Fire

After some days of demos and protests by the students of the University over delayed disbursement of the Helb loan, a huge fire broke out at Kabianga University where one of the biggest hostels accommodated by the first years was razed down by fire.

The Institution had been closed after protests by several students over issues in HELB and the zero fee balance policy that was passed before a student sits for an exam.

On the night of Wednesday 19 April, two hostels among the biggest one was razed down by fire. Properties of the unknown value and Student’s properties were destroyed as well.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known as police officers are in-check to investigate what might have caused. This however, happens after the first and third years of the Institution were reopening the school for learning.

Several students others led by their officials were suspended sometimes back after leading the demonstrations of the same, delay in HELB loan.

The fire started at around 8:45pm at night as it broke down Hostel 6 and 7 of the Institution.

However, it is candidly suspected that the inferno might have been caused by an electric fault as one of the lecturer said the fire began on the fourth floor of Hostel 6, razing down students property.

No casualties have been reported so far.
