Government to Employ 20,000 More Teachers by July

Speaking at Kolanya Girl’s National School in Bungoma County on Wednesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said the government will employ an additional 20,000 teachers to improve the teacher-student ratio and address the acute shortage being witnessed in the country.

“So far since taking office, this government has employed a record 56,750 teachers and as a ministry, we have received additional money to employ 20,000 teachers this financial year,” the education minister said. He admitted that the government had already employed 50,000 teachers since he took over the office in September 2022.

The CS also affirmed his commitment to improving school infrastructure across the country.

 

 

Kibabii University’s PAMOJA Alliance Party Withdraws from SOKU 2024/25 Elections

Kibabii University’s New Pamoja Alliance Party has today Thursday, 21 March 2024 withdrawn from SOKU general election. The elections were scheduled to be conducted on 28 March 2024. This was to be after the outgoing student’s council was dissolved  as per the varsity’s constitution laws.

The Party led by its Chairperson Hon. George Ochieng’ conducted peaceful demos . This came after the party’s nominee under School of Education(SOE) Belton Kibuk was pulled down from the ballot after the allegations of security reasons.

In his speech at the Dean’s Office, Hon. Ochieng’ termed university as being biased and in favor of their opponents Comrades Power Alliance(CPA).

“We are not here to cause any demonstrations, we are here fighting for our rights. We are here because we all pay SOKU fee . There is nobody who is bigger than this institution. This institution is bigger than any other person
We have submitted our forms. We are peacefully withdrawing from this elections
We cannot go for an election where the ground is biased already…”

The Alliance asked the institution to prevail  justice for Belton. They should be free and fare.

“Unless justice is served to Belton, then we will see if we will go for the elections. We are not going for election,” Ochieng’ added.

They nominees and SCs presented their resignation letters and are waiting for the verdict from Dean of Students. They added if no justice will be taken, they order a compensation of their SOKU Fee.

“Our SOKU fee for 2024/25 must be send to us.”

11 Kenyatta University Students Confirmed Dead In a Road Accident

Several students are feared dead and others are injured after a bus from Kenyatta University was involved in a road accident at Taita village near Maungu in Taita Taveta county.

Preliminary reports indicated that the school bus was carrying public health students heading to Mombasa for an academic trip. The incident occurred on Monday evening, March 18, in the Maungu area in Voi when a trailer hit their bus on the left side.

It is confirmed that at least 11 Kenyatta University students have died in the fiercily road accident involving their school bus and a trailer.

10 students died on the spot while another student breathed his last in hospital.

The bus is said to have carried 58 passengers.

Kibabii University set to have its Campus Night today

Students Organization of Kibabii University (SOKU) has arranged and today Friday, 2 presents Campus Night event for the comrades. The event is scheduled to start in the evening till dawn at the Graduation Square.

Singing competition, dancing, eating competition and twerking are among the occasions expected to be participated in at the G-square. Much have not been communicated by the organisation onto which booked artist will perform leaving comrades upset.

” Campus night ni saaa ngap?…” Lautaro Ke iwas among the students set for the event.

Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season

Liverpool’s German Jurgen Klopp on Friday announced that he is set to part ways with the club at the end of the season. Liverpool which is currently leading the Premier League is set to face  Chelsea on Wednesday 31 January in the league.

The German led Liverpool to their first league title in 2020 and also led the club to Champions League in 2019.Jurgen Klopp took over Liverpool in 2015 and he has recently revealed that he’s running out of energy.

“I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time,” Klopp said in an interview on Liverpool’s website.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

“It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now.

“I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.” Klopp added.

 

Not only Jurgen Klopp but also the assistant managers Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz and the development coach Vitor Matos are confirmed to leave the club at the end of the season.

“When we start there together with the club talking about the potential signings , next summer camp and can we go wherever…the thought came.” Klopp revealed.

Liverpool are five points  at the top of the Premier League.

Azimio Diehard Supporter Nuru Okanga Joins Secondary School

Nuru Okanga, an outspoken diehard supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga after revealing his performance in the  released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, he has finally joined secondary school.

The diehard Azimio supporter further alleged that he was set to join Alliance High School despite receiving multiple offers from principals. This came after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino offered him a sponsorship for his high school education.

 

“I want to go to Alliance High School and I’ve already gotten a sponsor. Let me just inform those in Alliance that I will be joining them,” Okanga said.

“Expect great things and I will talk to the teachers to grant me the right to be educating you people on matters politics.”

After being asked by his lawyer Kibet the marks he got in his KCPE results, Nuru Okanga said that he scored 320 marks.

Nuru Okanga who is now a brand in Kenya revealed that Roots Party leader Prof George Wajackoyah advised him to be learned and attain educational certificates if he sought to join elective politics in the 2027 General Election.

The 32-year-old aspiring politician was in court accused of posting derogatory and demolishing words about the country’s head of state, President William Ruto, on his social media platform.

MP Peter Salasya Announces to Vie for Kakamega Governor’s Seat 2027

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Kalerwa Salasya has been the talk of the country after eruption of the assault during a funeral service in Kakamega County. On his X Page formerly known as twitter the legislator declared that  he will vie for the Kakamega county gubernatorial seat in the next general election.

“It’s now official I will be vying for Governor,” the MP said.

Peter Salasya won the parliamentary seat in the 2022 General Election under Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) and he is currently on his first term as Mumias East MP.

This happens after few days the MP was summoned by EACC over assault allegations.

“You are required to appear at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s offices at Integrity Centre, Nairobi, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 9 am for an interview and statement recording,” a letter addressed to Salasya by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak reads in part.

The MP recently faulted and blamed Kakamega senator Khalalwe and Governor Fernandes Barasa for allegedly fighting him for political gain.

” The reason people like Boni Khalwale and Fernandes Barasa are fighting me is because they don’t have a following… if today I call a meeting of 20,000 people they will come. Them they can’t (sic),” Salasya stated.

EACC Summons Mumias East MP Peter Salasya Over Assault On MCA

Mumias East MP Peter Kalerwa Salasya was arrested and detained at Shianda Police Station on Friday after attacking Malaha MCA Peter Indimuli Walunya during a funeral in Kakamega County.

Today, The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned the Member of Parliament over an assault of the Malaha-Isongo-Makunga MCA Mr Indimuli. MP Peter Salasya was charged with two offenses including assault causing actual bodily harm and creating a disturbance in a manner that breached section 95 (1) of the penal code.

 

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak ordered the MP to appear before EACC offices on Tuesday next week to record a statement following the assault on the MCA.

“The commission is in receipt of an allegation that you assaulted Hon. Peter Walunya Indimuli, the Member of County Assembly Malaha-Isongo-Makunga Ward during a funeral service in Mumias East, Kakamega on Friday 12th January 2024,” stated Mbarak.

“To this end, you are required to appear at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s offices at Integrity Centre, Nairobi, on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at 09:00 am for an interview and statement recording.” The statement read.

The Anti-Corruption Commission termed MP Salasya’s action as a serious breach of the integrity and ethical requirements.

The assault arose during the funeral service when then MP was  granted a chance to address the mourners and console the deceased’s family during which he shared his history with the family, acknowledging the role they played in his life.

Later on the MP was aggrieved after the MCA Peter Indimuli failed to give him enough chance to shower and mourn with the family of the deceased. Salasya, however, shouted down the MCA demanding him to take a seat but the MCA declined.

“I have told you to sit down, I’m repeating it, go sit down,” the lawmaker reprimanded. This led Salasya to slap the politician.

The Blues are actively looking around the transfer market to see if anything can be done between now and deadline day on February 1. Among the transfer news speculating, Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to the Premier League this month despite only joining Al-Ittihad in the summer on a bumper three-year deal.
The 36-year old striker has been heavily linked to a switch move to Stamford Bridge this month. Chelsea have been handed a major boost to their hopes of signing Karim Benzema this month, after Arsenal ruled out their move to sign the striker.
Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney and Serie A club Napoli striker Victor James Osimhen are long-term targets but both are seen as unattainable this month so any move for either of the strikers is more likely to occur in the summer transfer window.
Karim Benzema is reported to be unhappy in Saudi Arabia after making the move to Al-Ittihad last summer. Benzema was featured 15 times for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. Despite having only recently left Real Madrid.

Following a ceremony held by the World Football governing body in London on Monday, Argentina and Inter Miami player Lionel Messi has been named FIFA Best Men’s Player for 2023.

The 36-year-old clinched the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 before moving to Major League Soccer team Inter Miami, where he won the 2023 Leagues Cup – a competition between MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX sides – scoring 10 goals.

Messi beat Haaland to the award despite the Norwegian winning the treble at Man City as he scored 30 goals in all competitions in the period after the World Cup and before August 20, 2023.

PSG striker Kylian Mbappe finished third in the voting with none of the three finalists in attendance at the awards ceremony in London at that night.

Meanwhile, Spanish and FC Barcelona Femeni superstar Aitana Bonmati was named The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year for the Year 2023. This was due after she lead Spain to their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia last summer.
