L.A. is in a tough spot as wildfires force almost 40,000 people to evacuate, leading to a state of emergency.
Firefighters are having a hard time with the fire that is spreading really fast, burning through land like five football fields every minute. They are running low on water, and things are getting serious.
Evacuation warnings went out on Thursday, January 9, 2024, for the Malibu and Calabasas areas.
Even though tankers are working hard to drop water from the sky day and night, their efforts are getting harder because planes can’t fly due to bad weather and low visibility. Residents have been told that the worse is yet to come, as the fire has already burned more than 3,200 acres in Los Angeles.
The fire started in the foothills near the canyon and quickly grew to 2,000 acres in just four hours. In Pacific Palisades, some homes have been destroyed, including those in the celebrity area where many Hollywood stars live. Reports say that firefighters on the ground are starting to run out of supplies, especially water, which makes fighting the fire even tougher.
This has raised concerns about the safety of homes and wildlife in the area.
